At just 14, while her peers were dreaming of their futures, Nikki was forced to become an adult. Her childhood was tragically cut short by her father’s alcoholism and abuse, which plunged her family into a cycle of poverty and despair.
With her father stealing their earnings, Nikki and her mother had no choice but to work as house helpers just to put food on the table. In the face of such overwhelming circumstances, her dream of becoming a hotel manager seemed impossibly distant. She had to give up her education, her curiosity, and her hopes.
But Nikki’s spirit was not broken. It was simply waiting for a helping hand. At Hamari Pahchan, we believe that no child should be denied the right to dream. We recognize that education is not just about books and exams; it’s about empowerment, dignity, and the freedom to choose your own path. That’s why we were so moved by Nikki’s story and took on the responsibility of supporting her education.
Today, Nikki is an active and dedicated student in our Drishti classes. The girl who once had to give up on her future is now diligently preparing for her 10th-standard board exams. This is more than just academic support; it’s a chance for Nikki to reclaim her narrative. It’s about giving her the strength to not only dream again but to actively work towards making that dream a reality.
